Today, my hamster died.

After two fabulous years, I just want to say, R.I.P. Hershey.

I went to The Killers concert yesterday in Mountain View. I would have to say that the wait was well worth it! Not only was this my first real concert (I'll explain later), but Brandon Flowers is such a great entertainer!! He really knows how to get his audience involved and I can see why people love seeing them live. As for why it was my first real concert; I actually saw Jimmy Eat World when they were in Riverside but that was at UC Riverside and it really didn't feel like a stage (I think it was in some auditorium?). Also, I was just tagging along then so I wasn't very familiar w/ their lyrics, etc.. I guess that later part you can't blame on the concert, but the point is I felt more part of the audience now than before. Anyway, pictures below (plus some)!

My view from the lawn. I could hardly see them playing on stage, but they had this cool video feed coming from behind the band so at times, you could see them from there.

This is my brother and me before the concert started. As you can see, I'm a complete novice since 1) I only brought 1 blanket and 2) we got there so early I felt like I owned the lawn. The latter part was short lived though, since by 7:30 we were tightly boxed in with other people.

Picture of Anson and Jean right before we took off.

This picture is actually from several weeks ago during Jean's birthday party. Since I was using her camera during the concert (they didn't allow me to bring in my SLR) I uploaded these along the way. Here's Jean's birthday cake and 24 candles -- she did the good job of blowing them all out in one try too!

I just got back from a relaxing weekend in Los Angeles. I watched my team beat SDSU in football (GO BRUINS!), ate out like a pig and spent an afternoon at the beach. All-in-all, great way to end the summer! Here are my pictures (in reverse order) starting from my ride back to San Francisco.

Since the Bay Bridge was closed, we had to take the long route through Gilroy to and from Los Angeles. On the way back, I wanted to get some corn from this fruit stand by Hollister and we found this miniature pony there. Here's Jean posing with it. She has a pretty nice tail, doesn't she? :)

I don't typically eat at fast foot restaurants, but on these trips I kind of have too. I'm happy to report though that the Carl's Junior we dropped-off at had (surprisingly) great service and nicely wrapped hamburgers. You may be wondering what I mean by "great" service; essentially, they had to bring out our meal and our server was this really nice, old lady who was quite chatty with the other customers. Norbert and I both agreed the place was well-run and I even filled out a customer service form to reflect this.

My last night in LA, Jean and I ate with Aisi at this Chinese restaurant in Alhambra called Tasty Garden. The food was okay and the service was mediocre, but at least the dishes were cute. Here is an example of one of the bowls/plate combo they had. This is something I'd probably get someday as a fun set.

Andrew's girlfriend, Olivia, found 5 abandoned kittens in a trash bag two weeks ago and now they're raising 3 of them (the other 2 went to Olivia's co-worker). Each one has its own personality. For instance, Andrew really likes the white one because it's very loving and always stares at you. They think it may be retarded because it was at the bottom of the bag and had the shallowest breathing of the 5, but whatever the case is it's the most friendly to humans. Then the black one is the most independent and it screeches whenever it wakes up and wants milk. Finally, the mutli-colored one is the only male and has a mild temperament, but likes to spray pee on people when it's milking. Quite charming!

Yet another bullie to be photographed. This guy's name is Willie and his owner used a metal chain as a leash. I imagine that was just for looks...

I finally decided that I want to "document" San Francisco neighborhoods through photographs. I'll probably start it in the coming weeks and roll-out my album in the coming months. So look out for it! As for world news, this week in photographs...

A picture of Coit Tower from my apartment rooftop.

It was really hot today and my hamster decided to sleep outside. To his right is his "retirement" home. This is actually his third home I've bought him; his first home was a hut that he destroyed as a baby, then I bought him a wood house that he got super dirty and now I got him a plastic home that I can easily wash. I call it his retirement home because he's almost 2 years old and hamsters usually don't live much past 2 years. =O

7-Up sipping bulldog. In reality, James Brown wasn't even sipping soda. Although, you couldn't tell from the picture.

John, Jean and I finally made our way to the Mama's, the city famous breakfast restaurant. It was fairly good and the service was excellent, although I would have to admit there is no way in hell I would wait an hour for this food (like how many people do on the weekends). Cute place though. This is John eating his Italian omelet.

Jean eating her Eggs Florentine.

Just got back from watching District 9 and I am happy to say it turned out to be a lot better than I expected it would be! Originally, I wasn't interest in watching it because the trailers looked really bad, but after reading all the positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes I couldn't help but see it. The movie definitely takes a little bit of getting used to, especially since one of the main characters is prawn looking animal, but if you have time I'd at least check it out in DVD. As for my weekend in photos...

As with all third Saturdays of the month, went to Crissy Field to check out bulldog meetup. I felt kind of bad for this Frenchie. It was just a puppy and these three kids kept picking it up when it obviously didn't want to be held. Finally, the owners took the pup to the other side of the beach far, far away from the kids. The sad part was that the children kept following them until it was just too far. Sigh, the reasons kids annoy me. :( In other news, this was also the first bulldog meetup where I saw a dog poop in the ocean. It was just like in Marley & Me, it made me just cringe when I saw it... Esp a few seconds later when another kid unknowingly ran through the poop water. =\

Last Friday was Jean and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary and I took her to this Argentine steakhouse. :) They had good meats, but what I really liked was their corn. Weird, huh? I go to a steak house to eat corn. Anyway, this is Jean looking beautiful.

I tried to take photos of the meteor shower last week, but since I'm in the city it didn't get dark enough for me to see anything. Instead, I took a picture of (a partial view) of Nob Hill from my rooftop.

It was a really nice day Saturday and managed to take this shot looking up Stockton from Bay Street. The clouds really helped add some depth to the picture.

As usual, another James Brown shot. This time, I tried to tug his kong away but I never managed to get it out of his grip.
